Because of this, we are not contracted with any insurance companies, allowing us to provide the highest quality care without limitations imposed by insurers.
As a courtesy, we are happy to file and process your insurance claims, apply payments to your account, and help you understand your benefits. While dental insurance can help offset some costs, it is important to remember that no plan covers 100% of all services. Ultimately, patients are responsible for any remaining balance after insurance reimbursement.
Dental insurance is designed to assist with costs, but it does not cover all expenses. Many patients believe their insurance covers 100% of all dental fees, however this is not true. Many plans reimburse between 50-80% of the total fee, depending on the specific policy, employer contributions, and contract details.
You may notice that insurance companies sometimes reimburse at rates lower than your dentist’s actual fee. This is due to an internal pricing model known as “Usual, Customary, and Reasonable” (UCR) fees.
Each insurance company sets its own UCR rates based on outdated claim data and profit targets, not actual dental costs in your area. As a result, these “allowable” fees may not reflect the true cost of quality care.
Unfortunately, insurers often imply that dentists are “overcharging” rather than acknowledging that their reimbursement rates are low. Many insurance companies haven’t raised their reimbursement rates in decades. It’s important to remember that your dental health decisions should be based on what is best for you—not on insurance restrictions.
